How to receive your Official Translation

Official translations are hard copy documents, and can be received in the following ways:

    • You can collect the documents from our offices (51 Mavromichali St, Athens / 66 Chryseidos St, Ilion).
  • We can use courier services (nationwide or abroad) to deliver them to you.

Thanks to our many years of experience in translation and to the expertise of our specialist translators, Lexis Translations can guarantee excellent translations, delivered on time and at extremely competitive prices.

Usually, a “normal” translation which is not validated or certified is all you need for private authorities, bodies or companies. However, Greek public bodies and agencies such as municipalities, civil registry offices, ministries, tax authorities, universities, etc. require a formal or certified translation which bears the stamp of a lawyer and of the Law Society.

The official translations we provide are accepted by all Greek public bodies as they meet all the relevant requirements.

If you are intending to use an official translation abroad, it is usually sufficient just to have the translation certified by our translation agency. However, in order to avoid any potential inconvenience or problems, we would suggest that you contact the body asking for the translation to verify that they will accept a translation certified by a translation agency and do NOT need an official translation.

The Apostille stamp is given to original documents issued by public bodies or to exact copies which are equally legally valid and which were made by the issuing authority.

The stamp does not endorse the translation, but merely affirms the authenticity of the signature and the capacity of the signatory. This means that the documents are valid for use in the countries which have signed the Hague Convention.

We would suggest you contact the body which requires the translation to confirm whether The Hague Apostille stamp is necessary. If the stamp is needed, you will need to ensure the documents are stamped BEFORE you send them to us for translation.

For information on the Apostille stamp under the Treaty of Hague, please contact:

  • the Decentralized Administration of Attica, if your place of permanent residence is in Athens.
  • the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia Thrace if your permanent place of residence is in Thessaloniki
  • the nearest Decentralized Administration for other Regions, you can find this on the Ministry of the Interior website.
